Delinquent taxes
Delinquent taxes on real estate that is not paid within 3 years are normally referred by the county or local jurisdiction to the Legal Department for foreclosure action, thus putting the property in jeopardy of being sold at auction.
Most County clerk's offices will publish delinquent tax information on the local newspapers and send notices to the property owner of consequences if the taxes are not paid, prior to selling the tax lien certificates.
