Future Interest
A future interest is a legal right to property ownership that does not include the right to present possession or enjoyment of the property.
An example is the Landlord - Tenant. The landlord has ownership of the property, but the tenant has current interest of the property.
There are several other "future interest" in real estate including:
- Vesting
- Reversion
- Remainders
