Cost of House Repairs
There are several ways to keep the cost of house repairs down. Do not do anything expensive, such as remodeling. If possible, use savings to pay for any repairs and improvements – do not go charging up credit cards or obtaining new loans. Remember that part of selling a house is also preparing to buy your next home. You do not want to do anything that will affect your credit scores or hurt your ability to qualify for your next mortgage.
Many variables will dictate how much you should actually spend on getting your house ready to sell. These repair cost should be well weighed with the possibilities of a quicker and higher sales price.
Roof Repairs
This is not the time to replace a roof, remember we are trying to minimize the cost of house repairs. If you roof needs repair, try to get this done before you place the house for sale.
Interior
This is a great time to become a home inspector, check your house as if you were the buyer. Find anything that is not working so it can be replaced or repaired.
Wall outlets are easy to replace and can be bought at your neighborhood hardware store.
If your door handles don't work or are worn, replace then, they are cheap.
Remember, try to keep the cost of house repairs to a minimum!
One of the most important thing, is also the cheapest. CLEAN the house. Make sure you thoroughly go through the house and wipe down, scrub, and touch up paint every where. This will reduce repair costs and provide a more presentable home for the buyers.
If you have a difficult stain to remove, one trick is to hire a cleaning crew to go through and clean your home on a one-time basis. They seem to be wonderful at making stains go away.
Again, ask a friend or two to come over and let you know what they see wrong, they might even be able to help do some of these repairs.
